National Project “Science”

The implementation of measures envisaged by the National Project “Science” (approved by the presidium of the Presidential Council for Strategic Planning and National Projects of the Russian Federation, protocol No. 16 dated December 24, 2018) will make Russia a more attractive place both for national and international leading scientists and young promising researchers. International research and production cooperation stipulated by the project aims at achieving several important objectives. Firstly, it will allow to create world-class research and educational centers, including a network of international mathematical and genomic research labs involving leading Russian and foreign scientists. Secondly, a united digital platform on S&T cooperation will be launched that will support the implementation of joint international projects in a remote access mode. Next, unique large-scale research facilities will be put into operation and joint international research projects will be launched at a number of mega-science facilities - “International Center for Neutron Research (ICNR) at High-flux Research Nuclear Reactor PIK”, “NICA Complex of Superconducting Rings on Colliding Beams of Heavy Ions”, “4th generation Synchrotron Radiation Source (SSRS-4 project)”, “Siberian Circular Photon Source (SKIF)". Furthermore, international mobility of highly qualified research personnel will be enhanced and scientific diplomacy will be strengthened as an important mechanism of supporting international S&T cooperation. All these measures will allow to implement large-scale world-class research projects aimed at finding breakthrough solutions to challenges on the global S&T agenda, as well as to contribute to the generation of new fundamental knowledge.
